Sorry Blank Title 75680

We do have trouble posting to this group from time to time. In fact last thursday Vic Drecchio and I could not get messges to our group.
Â
I agree with Karen on this one though. This Group has been established and does have moderstors. I would consider a change if we could insure the same quality of subject matter and all of the people who use this service be informed of the new. This would be a tough thing to accomplish.

Brian,

I think many group members will agree, we want to stay with this
group...First, there are moderators already in place. Second, they
"screen" to ensure group membership is appropriate. Additionally, we
are familiar with the setup, file locations etc.

Some may want to move over to Google, but likely they will then be in
both groups...

Just my opinion,

This group, the EUG group and I believe Epicor has one. Enough groups already. One reason I like this group over EUG's is that it integrates (forwards/receives) with my work email (Outlook/Exchange). I get the group messages (color coded) with my regular email and can respond with a simple reply. I really don't want to have a web page open all the time ot have to switch attention when I have email (and pop-up notices) going anyway. Just a personal preference. I would however think screen shots would be very helpful.

Personaly I'd just rather that Epicor actualy gave a s**t about the forum they already have on EpicWEB and posted replies to their customers posts on there.

It's a more than suitable forum so we could have threads etc but it's just neglected by them.

Also to be able to access the forum in the first place you have to have current maintenance so that prevents many 6.x users who have dropped maintenance from accessing it.

Brian,

I would much rather just stick to the Yahoo groups personally though I
have to agree that the maintenance of threads kinda stinks on Yahoo.
One way I have gotten away with easier administration is I have a local
.PST file where all of my Vantage User Group emails are forwarded to
with an Outlook rule setup when they come in. Now because I have been
on this group for nearly 5 years now, I of course have a TON of emails
in this .PST file. Uh....like 700MB worth to be exam but I can then
just search using Outlook versus having to always go out to Yahoo which
makes my life easier when seeing others needs or searching for something
someone else may have already asked about because I have all of the
messages in this PST file.

If you want to do something like this Brian, go into your Yahoo Account
pertaining to the Vantage Users Group and you can tell it to forward to
any email you wish like I am sure most people have done on here. I
prefer the Yahoo community versus the EpicWeb groups (Sorry Epicor, I
love ya but I had to say that)

We may not have a choice...Yahoo has been up for sale for a while.

If Microsoft or some other company that already has a portal buys Yahoo,
that company could

very easily force a move to their portal.

Microsoft management told BusinessWeek this morning they are still
interested in Yahoo.

This group, the EUG group and I believe Epicor has one. Enough groups
already. One reason I like this group over EUG's is that it integrates
(forwards/receives) with my work email (Outlook/Exchange). I get the
group messages (color coded) with my regular email and can respond with
a simple reply. I really don't want to have a web page open all the time
ot have to switch attention when I have email (and pop-up notices) going
anyway. Just a personal preference. I would however think screen shots
would be very helpful.

Or a traditional message board/forum that correctly maintains threads
and has better search ability.
Plus embed screen caps, attach files, etc.
There are many of them that are free.

Just don't force me to type in a word from what looks like a Dali
painting in order to post each time, lol.

Personaly I'd just rather that Epicor actualy gave a s**t about the
forum they already have on EpicWEB and posted replies to their customers
posts on there.

It's a more than suitable forum so we could have threads etc but it's
just neglected by them.

Also to be able to access the forum in the first place you have to have
current maintenance so that prevents many 6.x users who have dropped
maintenance from accessing it.

On the same note...

I use a gmail address for this group for a couple reasons...

1- I can forward gmail to any email address I want, either work or home, I
keep it to a personal non-company address, archive it at home via Outlook,
but at work keep it seperate from my work Outlook by having that address
accessed by OutlookExpress instead.
2- Gmails way of keeping emails together and "threaded", assuming the
subject line doesn't change much, but also because of the search
capabilities in google being a lot better than those in outlook.
3- Plus with the 6GB that gmail allows me to have, I have a backup of all
the messages on my PC.

Probably a little OCD like by having it in 4 locations, but information is
what is important, and the preservation of that information is even more
important.

I despise Google in general (for all the bloated crap software it junks up my boxes with) and Gmail so if there is a move, I'm out.

This is great, but does it require everyone to have a Gmail account?
