Hello Everybody,
I was wondering how you guys have software and services setup in Epicor. In detail, do you set them up as parts that are not quantity bearing? Or is there some other way?
Thanks,
Onur Cam

We do them as parts that are not quantity bearing.
But then you have to ship them so they can be invoiced correct?
If that’s true then who uses Customer Shipment Entry window to check shipping? Customer service or invoicing person?
Thank you for your reply!
One of our customers sold software, they also sold hardware, so the we used compliment parts to add all the parts into the sales order. The software was non stock non qty bearing and yes it was shipped.
Is anything else sold along with the software? if so you could just use a misc charge for the software and then it will not need to be shipped. A bit of work may be needed on the SSRS report to make it look like a line.
No the software is sold on it’s own. I asked because it sounded weird if the software department which issue the software licenses have to use the shipping entry window. Well I guess I’ll added like that.
So probably the same for services then…
Thank you!
If you just think of it as a signal of transferring the value of the product from the vendor to the customer, it works fine. At some point there needs to be that transaction that happens. In physical shipping it makes sense because it leaves, but with software, it may not be on a truck, but for accounting reasons, there needs to be some sort of event for that to happen.
We have the same problem with “shipping” our orders, because we’ve been sending trucks for weeks (the are large conveyors assembled on site), but at some point the packing slip needs to be run to signal the transfer of goods and services from us to our customer. If you can just get past the verbiage, it makes sense.
Yeah I understand. Thank you very much.
