Silly Question (2 man crews)

Depends on how you set-up the labor entry in the BOM. If the labor entry is quantity only (where you don't enter time) then it's better to split the quantity so both crewmembers get time credit. If, as it appears, both time and quantity is entered, Vantage allows one person to enter quantity and time while the other enters only his time against the operation. This may be appropriate where one person in a crew has reporting responsibilities.

We are trying out data collection. I have an operation that is a two
man crew. Do both crew clock in as direct labor to the job. When they
clock out do they split production between them or all production to one
crew.

I need a little Report Builder help, please! I need to create a report
that will show all jobs that have one certain operation: Sonic Slitting.
The report will need to show detail of all operations on these particular
jobs, but I only want jobs that have this operation.

I know I can filter for that operation, but I then lose all the operations
for the detail of the report. I'm hoping it's something easy that I
haven't thought of. Any ideas?

Start with JobOper as the master table, join to the JobHead.
Filter for the certain operation you want.
Create a join from JobHead to JobOper with the alias of JobOper2.
Now for each operation you filtered for you get the job and all the
operation for the job.
Group and sort by job. Show the job number on the group header line and all
the operation on the record line.

Have fun.

There might be a simpler way but I think I would try checking each operaiton on a job and setting a counter to 1 if the target oper is found otherwise 0, then pre-pass aggregate on the counter (reset on job). If the counter > zero you know the job has that oper in it and can conditionally print that job's details.

Have fun? I certainly did! That worked, thank you. I never joined a
table in a report, twice, like that. Didn't know it was possible! I don't
remember learning that in the RB class...

Thanks again!

If you really want to blow your mind with joining tables back to themselves,
look at the BOM RB report that is in the files section of this list. I
think that does a circle about 7 times.

Yep have them both clock in. When you say split production I assume you
mean "how many did you complete?" if so you need to make a call on how
to handle that. I would suggest you have each do 50%, if you rely on
one or the other to enter the whole amount, someone will usually forget.

We have a three man crew that clocks in and out of the operation
individually. They split the total quantity complete among themselves. Ex.
600pcs complete = 200pcs/man. We have been doing this for over a year and
it works well.
