I have parts that have been issued to a job, the assemblies have been received to stock, and the job has been closed (job shows as WIP Cleared) . In part tracker, the material Serials still shows as in WIP for that job. The Job was for a LOT controlled assembly. Anyone have an idea of why the serials didn’t change status when the job is closed? they don’t change to consumed because the job is lot controlled.
Not sure what status they would change to, or what transaction would change them… are all serial material issued to lot controlled jobs stuck at WIP status forever?
how do you received them to stock? I noticed that if you have the autoreceived checkbox checked, once inspector confirm pcsi n MES, they will be received to stock but serial number status won’t change from WIP to INVENTORY.
The other thing I noticed is that, if they do receipt via Job receipt to inventory screen first, and then confirm pcs with serial numbers in MES, SN status will change from inventory to WIP.
Hope this helps
I’m learning how important the timing of each actions is. I believe that the parts were issued to the job, and then the operation was completed, I think that this move the part quantity from WIP, (on the part tracker > Part Location > WIP. But I would think that at that point it would also affect the serial number status to something other than WIP- but I don’t know what that status would be…
Unless you are doing lower level tracking, when it is issued to WIP, it is “Consumed” by wip, and you dont really know which final product it went into. Therefore you could interpret the “WIP” as “Consume in WIP”.
Could you share a snapshot of an example of a serial number using Serial Number Tracker > Transactions ?
Thanks!
I performed this in a controlled test environment, if processed correctly it does move the serial status from “inventory” to “consumed” when the serial-material is issued to the job.
Interesting!
Hi, Im having exactly the same issue, some guidance on this would be really helpful thanks
