Serial Numbers in Sales Kits

The business case is we serialize computers and monitors. These are finished goods sitting in inventory. The sales kit part would be a computer and two monitors. When the kit is purchased, we box the parts up as one. We would like to serial match the computer to the monitors in the box. Can we serial match on the order, line?

We thought of creating a job, but the overhead of the job process would not be ideal with the quantity of kits being sold.

Is there something I am missing in Epicor? I guess we could create a custom screen for this, just seem like this is something other folks would need as well.

You’ll probably have to play with the Sales Kit parameters defined in the Part master. I would guess that you wouldn’t want backflush, and may need to enable “Allow Component Update” and “Allow Parameter Changes”.

I’m thinking these will effect how do the packer. You’d need to specify the S/N’s or lots that were picked for the order.

Just curious, do you serialize the Sales Kit Parent Part Number?

I don’t think you can serialize the sales kit parent. At least that is the way I think it works.

We can get a list of all SN for the order, we just want to match them by box.

The packer will not know the SN until they grab them from inventory.

During packer entry, doesn’t it ask you for the lot/SN of the item (talking about the component part) pulled, for serialized parts?

What do you mean by packer entry? I don’t think we use that feature.

When you make a shipment. We don’t use serial or lot control in E10, but other systems I’ve used, require specifying the S/N (or Lot) of the items going into and out of inventory. You can’t receive a part into inventory if an existing part (same part number) has the same S/N. And you can’t issue out a serialized part unless it is currently in inventory.

So issuing a serialized part to a job should also require knowing which of the serialized parts in stock is being issued.
