Serial number change for closed job

Hi All,

I am looking for a solutions or best practice to handle the situation.

Assembly -A (Serial controlled)

B = Child of Assembly A – Serial controlled

Now, Assembly A is completed, Serial creation and Serial matching done & job receipt to inventory also done. Job is now in closed status.

After couple of months Assembly -A used in further job and found the Child of Assembly A is damaged (B) or needs to be changed.

Now, physically B replaced (of course new Serial number) and further assembly completed.

The issue is how to manage this in EPICOR as previous job is closed. I can’t change the child serial number in previous job as its closed.

Thanks,
V

You need to create a new job. Issue the new part (B) to the job. Return the old part (B) to stock. Match B to A and complete the job.

Thank you John.

You mean new job for Part A…
in the material Put
Part A - issue/Consume ( Old Serial Number)
Part B- issue /consume (New serial number)
Reverse Part B- Old Serial Number ( can you reverse material which is not in job??)

Match B (new Sr no ) to A ( New Sr no)

Complete job and Receive Part A ( New Sr no ) in Stock?

Let me know my understanding is correct.

The times that I have done it was on an RMA where we would disposition it to a job. So, we had an RMA for part A. We would disposition it to a job when it came in so the job would have part A in it.

We would add a material requirement for part B.

We would issue B (New SN) to the job. At this point you technically have 2 part B in the job. The original B that was in A and the new B.

Unmatch B (Old SN) from A and match B (New SN) to A. Now return the B (Old SN) to stock for an NCR if you want.

Confusing, but it works really well and tracks all of the dollars correctly.
