Scrap ---- Non-conformance?

Scrap does not. Nonconform does. We have defined it (now as we are just starting) as a way for operators to "scrap" obbviously bad parts (totally messed up beyond all doubt) versus ones they are nto sure about. Since operators are somewhat rated by scrap rate they tend to be hesitant to "scrap" very much incase it can be passed by the QA inspectors. At shift (or job) end they bring all the nonconforming pieces to the QA inspection windows where they are either passed and sent back to the job or scrapped. But clocking the pieces as nonconform puts them in the NCR queue. If there are too many to bring to window the operator gets a "tag" printed in QA to place on the box of suspect pieces (which goes toa QA Hold location) for QA to later inspect and disposition.

Subject: [Vantage] Scrap ---- Non-conformance?

In Labor entry, does adding a scrap quantity create a non-conformance? What's the difference between a scrap quantity and non-conformance quantity?

Thanks!

Jasper

A scrap quantity is a planned quantity. You are running 200,000 parts and
expect to see .01% scrap. These are reported as scrap. Anything beyond
that expected scrap rate is a non-conformance quantity.

Nonconformance Qty creates a Nonconformance entry in the quality module, you
are forced to deal with this buy either returning parts to the job or
failing them to a dmr, then scrapping or again returning them to the job.

Scrap qty is just recorded on the labor transaction record.
