Scrap from DMR Blank Title 78666

Actually the 'magic' happens at non conformance, two steps behind the
DMR process. Aside from making any comments on Epicors idea of how to
handle rework and scrap within Vantage, when a nonconformance is
reported against the job the job or assembly complete quantity is
reduced and the parts are moved to inspection processing. If they are
failed that is when they move to DMR for disposition. When you scrap
them from the operation it would be magic indeed if they were to be
added back to the quantity reported complete when they are in the
dumpster and not available to the parent assembly.

I will say that there isn't a great closure to this loop. In the end
if no one did anything beyond this point (by that I mean manual
expedition) you would have an open operation that would eventually go
past due and someone would be wondering where their parts are and have
to dig a little deeper and follow the quality trail to only find out
that more parts need to be made. How much this impacts anyone varies
greatly on whether or not it's a part that's make direct to job, or to
stock where you might have inventories in sufficient quantities to
buffer you. A few good BPM's or BAM's with emails to the right folks to
include pertinent information regarding the scrapped parts can help prop
this up and make it a little more palatable.

On a side note, if you are accepting those parts back to the operation
for rework there is a check box to complete the quantities to the
original operation which will in effect return the quantities back to
the operation. The only down side to that is that it happens
instantaneously...meaning those parts will now show available even
though the rework may have not been performed yet.

Subject: [Vantage] scrap from DMR

When scrapping from DMR, I am understanding that the parts just
magically disappear. I thought I read a post that mentioned that when
this happenes, the job quantity is reduced. Is there something special
in the set up that needs to be done because we are not noticing this
happening. It would sure help since we have our jobs set to autoclose.

From what I know you should just report your "good" quantity for the completed qty when reporting labor. Then report the scrap as non-conforming. The nonconforming will not show up as completed & will not auto-clos/complete if you have not created enough. Then when doing inspections, if you pass that quantity will go back on the job as completed, if you fail it moves on to DMR(with or without costs).
Basically it is opposite of what you are thinking. The quantiy goes back to the job if you pass the material.
