It pains me to say it (because it is so often NOT true & just used as an excuse), but in this case I think the 'working as designed' response is valid.
Unfortunately, Epicor sales often takes some liberties on accurately representing software functionality and I think this is one of those cases.
It makes sense that the scheduled reports are only available in the archive report spooler when you think about it.
The only way to really get an auto generated hard copy is if you are using an xml reading, scriptable report generation program (like excel w/ vbscript). You'd schedule your reports in Vantage as you have done.
You'd also windows task schedule an excel session (and file) to launch a safe amount of time after your vantage scheduled report generation. The excel file would contain an Auto_Open vbscript that would then automatically run on file load to refresh the file from the xml datasource, do any post refresh reformating (or additional calculations, etc.,), perhaps save itself and print hardcopy to some specific printer.
This technique actually works quite well although I find it MUCH easier to work with exported data used as data sources to csv format versus xml. Csv files for the same dataset are 1/10th the size of the xml, much less subject to corruption (which DOES happen with Vantage's sloppy xml export method), and gives you total control over the format of the data brought into excel.
My beef is that you have to maintain double schedules: (1) the export from Vantage (2) the task schedule of the excel processing.
We just got service connect so I'm hoping they have exposed the BO/method for exporting and I can simply call it on demand from within the excel vbscript.

As far as I know, you're not missing anything.
I have the same issue with a load of reports that I have scheduled
for every Sunday. However I have set the reports to "archive" for 1
week. This means that on Monday when I log onto Vantage *as the same
user* and *on the same PC/laptop* as that the schedule was created,
the reports then print as expected.
I raised the issue with Epicor and, guess what...it's "working as
designed" :-(
Nigel.

output to a Word document, but another format would probably be
okay. I want the report to end up in a folder on the server for
various people to review. Here is what I have done so far:
