Dale,
Yup, Run the process server (I prefer on the Vantage server) and then set a
Delay for the Business Activity Query within the process server. Then you
can start the Business Activity Query.
Here is the twist. I think the BAQ only automates exports that are set to
the XML export type. I have worked around this by creating an ASP web page
(using BAQ) to display the BAQ and then using the "get external data" from
Excel to run a web query on the ASP page and the table with the data I want.
Then I set the excel query to refresh on open and the data refreshes.
It's a bit complicated, but it does work. If you could figure a way to
directly pull the data from the XML file, that would eliminate most of the
complexity, though if I remember correctly, I had some trouble with the
formatting of Vantage XML files that made this difficult at best.
If I have not scared you off completely, I will try to assist you along the
way a bit as you have questions. Or...to give a blatant plug for the
User4User, plan to attend the session that I will be leading on BAQ/BAM. I
will only have an hour, but I will try to have plenty of examples that could
be used for "homework". See you there?
Good luck,
Aaron Hoyt

Subject: [Vantage] scheduling a BAQ?
Folks:
I have searched the archives and have not found any information on
this. If it has been discussed, please accept my apology.
Here is what I want to do. I have a BAQ that will send information
about the purchase orders that our maintenance personnel have created
into an Excel spreadsheet. This gives them a quick way to sort and
find past orders. I would like to have this spreadsheet updated each
evening. Is there a way to tell Vantage to run a BAQ every night at a
certain time?
Thanks in advance.
