I’m on Epicor 10, and know next to nothing about this system. Users scan to a share we’ve called epicor_docs on a server, and those scans are attached to jobs.
All scans in epicor_docs were deleted accidentally, and this share is not backed up.
My question: Once attached to jobs, are these documents retained in the epicor DB, or do they need to live permanently mapped from the (now deleted) share documents?
I do not recall being different then this:
What is saved in the database is the link to the attached documents. The following tables are used to keep this info:
Ice.XFileRef
Ice.XFileAttach
If all the files are deleted…and it is not backed up… a lot of work awaits you…
Were on Novell (now MicroFocus) and whenever someone deletes… it is always recoverable… as well we do backups…
If you know the name of a file, maybe try to search for it…maybe the directory as been moved…instead of deleted ?
After your recovery, maybe modify your users rights to avoid deleting/ move this directory, and maybe include it in your backup routine…?
I had success in the past recovering stuff by using ShadowExplorer on the Server.
From time to time, Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 creates point-in-time copies of your files. This allows you to retrieve older versions from files you accidentally deleted or altered. This service is turned on by default on all versions of Windows Vista/7, but Microsoft grants access to these copies only in Ultimate, Business, and Enterprise editions. This is where ShadowExplorer comes into play
We have the same set up and the files when deleted in Epicor got to the deleted folder in the area it was created. So any attachment placed in Part will go to a folder called deleted in the Part folder.
Unless some accessed the share directly and deleted it there.
