Sales Orders not closing

Tricia,
BAQ => Business Activity Manager. It is the 6.0+ implementation of
change logs. You can find it under Executive Analysis. Under the
General Ops, you find the manager along side the query. The Manager
lets you define logs and events to occur when data fields change in
tables.
It is fairly user friendly to set up a to log events. I would bet money
(if I were a betting man) that if you set up a log you will find they
are being reopened. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that this
complaint was made to me every day until I set up the log, and then the
problem was explained and eliminated in one day.
I really think this will be of value to you. You may want to set the
BAQ to track some other changes while you are there.

Unfortunately, I don't think someone reopening is our problem. We have

person who does the invoicing and mainly one person who picks the orders
for
shipment - and yes...it's the same person! ;) Guess we'll just have to
close manually - that's the answer I got from Vantage - too bad they
couldn't give me an explanation of why it's happening.......

I am going to give you the unpopular answer as we had this same issue
for a long while. I decided to take the "simple" approach after calling
support.
I created a BAQ to log changes to the open status of the order, line and
release (yes I took the approach that Vantage is working right, but
people are not).
It will not help with any past info, but....
Going forward we were able to track just who reopened the
order/line/release after it was closed. Yes we found in every example
the status was changed to closed by the shipping person when they
shipped, and then an open shortly after by someone else). Now instead
of coming to me when an order is not closed they look at the log and go
after the person that reopened it.
I will be very surprised if this does not solve your problem. I was
getting complaints about Vantage not doing it's job right every day, and
since the day I created the BAQ, there has not been a single complaint
about Vantage not closing the orders.

Yes, we have that issue also starting with 5.2, we manually close the lines,
it's extra work, and I don't plan on a patch from epicor now, I didn't get
one last fall when I upgraded and complained about the issue. If you upgrade
early your on the bleeding edge of technology, if you upgrade late your on
the dieing end of technology, I guess I'm still searching for the middle
ground.

We also had this problem. It turned out that some of our users were
using the sales order entry screen instead of the tracker to find
out about an order. If the order was closed they simply re-opened it
to give them access. We have now removed the re-open privilege from
all but the sales manager.

after by someone else). Now instead of coming to me when an order is not
closed they look at the log and go after the person that reopened it.
I will be very surprised if this does not solve your problem. I was getting
complaints about Vantage not doing it's job right every day, and since the
day I created the BAQ, there has not been a single complaint about Vantage
not closing the orders.

Hey all!

While I'm waiting for tech support to call back, I figured I'd throw

out to the list for your input.

We went from 5.1 to 6.0 in the span of a week and a half. Has anyone

noticed an issue with sales orders not closing? The packing slip is
there,
it's invoiced. Everything looks right on the screen, but the order
isn't
closing. My initial thought was that they were items "caught" in the
upgrade. However, my order entry/invoice person tells me that it isn't
just
the upgrade date that is affected. Any other thoughts?????
