Sales Kits allowed inside a BOM?

Someone here constructed a BOM for a manufactured assembly and added several Sales Kits as subassemblies in the BOM.

Is this a valid use case of Sales Kits? If not, why does Kinetic allow it and what are the consequences?

It would seem to me that Phantom BOMs would be the preferred method for grouping materials in a BOM tree structure for visual/organizational purposes where they are not a true subassembly.

I have it from this TOP-LEVEL AUTHORITY that Sales Kits are NOT allowed in BOMs, yet Kinetic allowed a user to add sales kits in a BOM.

Right.

It does let you add kits to BOMs (WHYYYY?) but it’s either pointless or a terrible idea or benign until you get bit later and don’t even realize it.

Point is, don’t do it. There is no good reason for it.
