Sales Kit that is a Phantom BOM

Can a Manufactured, Phantom BOM part number (used in jobs) be set as type Sales Kit on the Part>Sites tab and therefore function as both?

When I tried this out I found that a phantom manufactured/sales kit part doesn’t automatically check the Pull As Assy box when added to a BOM, which can lead to a lot of human error setting up BOMs, but what other problems might there be?

Is it best to make a stand-alone Sales Kit part number?

I’d suggest separate P/N’s for sales kits. While similar to phantom BOM, there are too many differences. Besides what you’ve pointed out, a Sales Kit that allows qty overrides and changes could really mess up a BOM. If you need the ability to alter the Phantom BOM on a case by case basis, use the configurator.
