So, when doing an RMA for a sales kit, you cannot return the parent line; you have to do each component line.
The problem, for us, is that we use parent pricing and our components don’t come with a price, so the RMA ends up zero which, in turn, makes a credit memo difficult. What we have been doing is picking one of the lines and adding the full amount for a credit that we’ve manually calculated. It’s not a great process.
Does anyone have a more elegant solution they use?
Are you sure you can’t return a kit? At my old job we were on 10.0.700 and we could return a kit. I remember getting in a discussion where they only entered the kit number on the RMA if the whole kit was being returned. We mainly had components of the kit returned and they would enter the whole kit instead of the component and then ask me why the returned item price was so high. Don’t know what version you are on or if Epicor considered that a bug and fixed it.
I’d like to necro this thread as it’s still an issue we face.
Does anyone have a more elegant solution to RMAing kits that use parent pricing?
You can enter the sales kit parent, you just have to leave the order blank.
We added a UD so we know which order it came from.
If I leave the order blank, it still yells at me that it’s a kit and to select the corresponding parent.
it only complains if you write comments after all the fields are filled in.
I can enter the part and do a receipt and save it without error.
The second I add a comment is when the error pops in.
All I did on that RMA was enter the customer and save, go to the details tab, search and select a kit part. That error promptly follow.s
Base E10 Functionality is such that you need to enter kit components on RMA. It has been this way since E9 and i am not sure about before that.
I know people have done mods to explode kit to RMA in the past. If you are interested in having a facility to do this I suggest you submit an enhancement request with Epicor. It may not solve you pain today but may help in future.
Try to uncheck the kits must ship complete on the part, save then recheck.
Try again

Aaron,
I can uncheck must ship complete, then a save and recheck.
Then I can enter the sales order kit part and no errors

If you have the part as ship complete you can select parent or component pricing. when you turn off ship complete the pricing will shift to component Pricing. When you flip back to ship complete it will retain component pricing unless you switch back to parent pricing.
Also if you are going to toggle ship complete verify that credit memo from RMA has pricing you want to reflect.
