Our RMA team reports when we get an RMA for non-stock part it’s extremely time consuming as we have to break down the “assembly” into piece parts to get back to stock, and based on what I’ve seen from our RMA process I’m sure we’re loosing money(RMAs in Epicor seem to be extremely complicated for a small business).
I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions. As an example I know the old production manager would tell them not to disassemble these enclosures as we’d have to reassembly them when an order comes in. This seemed efficient, but he didn’t know how to do this with in Epicor so he just had to remember when an order came in for one of these assemblies we had one already assembled that came back via RMA…
I know the RMA process is a pain in Epicor. If the non-stock part is a Qty Bearing part, then I believe you should be able to receive directly into stock. If it is a non-qty bearing part, try to receive to the original job and do Mass Return From Mfg option to receive all components. Both are suggestions. Please try in the test system.
The big risk to putting a non-stock part into stock is MRP with ignore the inventory on hand and create a job suggestion to make one. As long as you have a good method to see those “bad” suggestions receiving the part into inventory will work.
When you get the new order you could create a job with one material to pull the finished good from inventory and add a refurbish operation.
