Revision Control

We use lot tracking with the Job number when items are received to
inventory. Ex. Rev A job 023416-1-1 = A-023416-1-1.

Is there a way to show in part tracker what revisions for a part are in
stock. We are on 6.00.

We stopped full implementation of 6.0 when we found that revision numbers were not stored in inventory records - i.e. 6.0 thinks all inventory is the same revision.
This did not work for our business because we have requirements for stocking more than one revision of a part. Other part number limitations forced us into waiting for 8.0 with the part number field expanded to 50 characters. 8.0 does not store revision numbers in inventory either but with the expanded part number field we now embed the rev. number in the part number.

Don't how many parts you have but we did talk with a company that had the same problem in 6.0. Their solution was to put the part and rev number in the description and use text searching to find the part they needed. This may be feasible for a small number of parts with slow growing list of parts but we felt it was not workable for us because of the number of parts we have and the growth rate of our part list. At some point scalability would be a significant issue.
