Restrict Access to Credit Fields

Hi John,

We have Field Security on the Customer.CreditHold field and attached a "Credit Hold" Security Group. When orders go on hold, only members of the this Group can release them through Customer Credit Manager.

To implement this, you seem to have been in the correct place but, when you see the user fields greyed out, just click New - that un-greys them.

HTH,
Nigel.

We are having trouble with our customer credit limits and holds.

When I first implemented Epicor, I didn't have any restrictions on it. Over time, I figured out that my sales people were changing the credit limits and credit hold on customers so that they could complete the sales.

To resolve this, I put restrictions on the customer.checkcredithold method. The problem with this is that then no one, except for the personnel with access to the checkcredithold method can create or update any customer records.

I thought that I could use field security but when I bring it up, I see the fields that I need to restrict access to but I can't set any security on them (the user fields are the bottom of the screen are all grayed out). But now that I think about it, if I restrict these fields, I am going to have the same problem as before.

Any thought on how to fix this? Is there an easy way to restrict who can change the credit hold and credit limit fields without locking everyone else out?

Thanks for your help.

John
I've always used process maintenance with success. Not sure why it's
giving you a hard time.

Optionally, you could create a custom version of customer entry that
does not display these tabs and then use menu security to control
access.

We are having trouble with our customer credit limits and holds.

When I first implemented Epicor, I didn't have any restrictions on it.
Over time, I figured out that my sales people were changing the credit
limits and credit hold on customers so that they could complete the
sales.

To resolve this, I put restrictions on the customer.checkcredithold
method. The problem with this is that then no one, except for the
personnel with access to the checkcredithold method can create or update
any customer records.

I thought that I could use field security but when I bring it up, I see
the fields that I need to restrict access to but I can't set any
security on them (the user fields are the bottom of the screen are all
grayed out). But now that I think about it, if I restrict these fields,
I am going to have the same problem as before.

Any thought on how to fix this? Is there an easy way to restrict who can
change the credit hold and credit limit fields without locking everyone
else out?

Thanks for your help.

John

John,

Make a customization to the Customer Maintenance screen that makes the
Credit fields invisible or read only.

Save the customization.

In menu maintenance, everywhere the Sales Personnel can access Customer
Maintenance apply the customization and save.

In the AR module do not apply the customization.

Remove the Method restrictions

Hope this helps

Dale
