Resource Group Efficiency / Utilization

I am trying to find a way to adjust the available hours of a resource group based on efficiency.

Currently, resource groups are calculating available hours using our production calendar. The problem is, the production calendar is 16hrs per day, but not all of that time is 100% utilized, and it varies per department/resource group. Is there a way we can input a percentage against each resource group to determine the actual available hours?

Eg. 10hr work day at 80% efficiency would mean 8hrs available per day.

I guess the other option is to just set up multiple calendars at reduced hours and assign to each resource group?

Thanks,
Nate

@Coordinate We worked around this by using generic resources with a 8 hour per shift calendar. Resource Group Team1 has resources Team 1 Member 1 thru Team Member 10. Ops takes people on the team times an attendance factor times an average rolling efficiency for the team to get to the closest number of team members. So a team with 9 people varied last week from 6 to 9 active members in Epicor for us.

I have an updatable dashboard that they can activate or inactivate team members each Friday for the following week.

You could use the calendar idea, but I think that could force it to change a lot of resourcetimeused records when you change the calendar.

I personally feel it is a fool’s errand to try to match up resource hours to reflect actual hours worked. It is far better to use a rough number that equates to typical hours worked at a resource, and not micro-manage each machine or area working certain hours due to breaks, lunches, efficiency, absenteeism, whatever.

Just use the typical efficiency you get for the area, and reduce the hours for the calendar to reflect that. If you aren’t earning the hours you’re scheduling, run some overtime in the area. You’re trying to create a realistic, usable schedule, and actuals NEVER match standards exactly.
