*RESOLVED* Zebra Label Printer: Version 905.607A

We have managed to get all our zebra printers working with a number of crystal "tags" including the built in ones as well as some entirely custom ones. One of the tricks to getting them to work is open the crystal report, then page setup and make sure to select "no printer ( optimize for screen display)" and "disassociate formatting page size and printer paper size".

Secondly, if the prints are coming out sideways you need to realize there is a bug that messes up the reports if they are wider than they are tall. So to print a 4" wide x 2"tall tag you must set the crystal page size to 4x4. Then fiddle with the zebra printer settings to get it print only the top 4"x1.5". Silly, but it will do it.

The whole process is a mess though. No question about it. Good Luck.

Tom

One of our tech guys reinstalled Epicor on both last week and they worked, but when the came in the next day they didn't work again for this label.

Do you still have your CR .rpt files defining a 'square' label for your wider-than-tall label when trying the other runtime versions? I'm slowly working through the process of trying different combinations and finding that:

- Zebra Drivers, CR 2008 SP3: 'square' tag prints small, 'rectangular' tag prints rotated
- Zebra Drivers, CR 2008 SP4: 'square' tag prints small, 'rectangular' tag prints GOOD

I'm also going to try SP5 runtimes, and might consider running the seagull drivers too if I can use them to get a better handle on deployment and maintenance of the drivers...

I too went around and 'squared' all my label definitions when going to 9.05, but we've got some internal tags that keep track of issuing, and sometimes those print multiple tags, and i'm loosing data between the first and second tag (because of the square shape), if that makes sense.

The only time I got the label to print in the right direction was setting paper size to 8-1/2x11, but then the print driver shrunk my text to postage-stamp size.

If I can get this to work with SP4 I'll call it a done deal. I won't get to testing this until next week though. If someone comes up with a fix in the meantime I'd be grateful if they would share!

No I don't, in fact I wasn't aware of the whole wider than tall bug, so mine are still defined as 4 x 2. I've not tried the whole trick of making them square, but I'm still not sure if that's going to fix the dimension problem I have where the drivers think the media in the labeler is something incorrect as well.

I guess it's worth a try to make it square and see if that's resolved.

Yes, we print multiple tags as well, so if I had square ones I could see losing the data between first and second prints, which would then bring me back to square one of having the issues again.

I guess the real problem is the 4 wide by 2 high apparently.

You shouldn't lose data printing multiple tags if you setup the crystal report cleaning. You can use a blank page footer that eats up the blank space at the bottom.
