I currently have one with two sub reports...I needed to make sure the details from both sub reports align in the main report and then the main report can be exported to Excel - is this what you are looking for or are you wanting to export the output from the sub reports instead?

If you align the columns up nicely and choose the "data only" option, it
will usually work...If your columns do not match up exactly, make sure
the header and data columns are the same width (even squish on the
preview if users normally will export anyway).
