Hey All

An Opportunity - I have two simple report builder reports pictured
below. The first is a single table pull from JobOper. The second is a
single table pull from LaborDtl. I'm trying to combine the two by
joining on company and job number. Result is a mushroom cloud. It turns
a 3 page report into a nineteen page report with data from whenever the
job started not the required day.

Has anyone succeeded in creating something close and could give me a
hand. The result would be an excellent report if I could get it to work.

Ok if you can follow this email and understand what I am looking for you are
probably a step ahead of me. One of our engineers is requesting a report
that shows for a part, the purchased components, and if there are any
assemblies, the purchased components for that assembly, and a total of
subcontract cost and production hours for these. If this makes any sense to
anyone and you want to throw some suggestions my way.. I know Report Builder
well but this just doesnt sound fun.

Thanks.
Greg
Sounds like you'll need crystal for this report because RB cant handle
subreports and it sounds like you will have to generate them.

I am trying to get a report to give the following.

Makeoeverjob# and the Original job#

How would I do about doing this. The job#'s are different. Is there a
way to reference the original job# so that I can print out what the
mjob# is and what the original job# was.

Thanks

STeve
Does your 'makeoverjob#' utilize your original job#? When we do a makeover
job (which we call a 'Rework' job), we use the job# of the original job with
an 'R' at the end of it, so it is simple to get the original job from that.

No, it is given a new job#, but starts with an M. For example,
M0005554 is a job#, just like 000855 is one. I'm trying to find a
way to see if M0005554 is a makeover job for 000855.

You could use a VBForm in the Job Head, and maintain the OriginalJob# there.
Then, that field would be available in you vantage database and also in any
reports. However, this would require a user to maintain another field.

Using a User Defined field on the makover job's header for the original job
number (or a VB form field) might be the only way to make a link. Or, make
an comment entry such as MO:xxxxxx and parse for "MO:". Or, maybe a project
ID identical to the original job could be entered on the makeover job header
(not sure what impact project codes have sinc we don't use them). With
these you could write reports to link to the original job using an aliased
second link to the various job tables. Just some top of head thoughts. We
use the original job number with an R prefix.
