Report Data Definitions

I'm working with a copy of the QuotForm report data definition, adding it to the QuotForm report style. I've been able to include and exclude fields, passing them to the .xml file and to my report.

I have two problems; first with zLookupLink tables, second with adding new tables.

zLookupLink tables - Some of these links don't produce accurate lookups. In particular, I added the ShipTo table on the Pick Links tab and added some address fields on the Fields Picked screen. The results yield the customer's address instead of the ship to address listed on the quote header. Am I missing something here?

Adding new tables – I added the QuoteCnt table to the RDD, created a relationship with the Company and QuoteNum fields, excluded some fields and ran the data. I get the new table and the fields in the .xml and the report, but the fields are empty. I also tried adding criteria in the RDD, using the same fields noted above, and running this both with and without the relationship setup…still yielding empty data fields. What am I missing here as well?

I'm working with the Scheduled Shipments report data definition and
trying to add the "OrderDate" to the orders displayed.

When I add the table in the Data Definitions "OrderHed" I can never
seem to access it through Crystal Reports. I drag and drop the
OrderDate from the OrderHed table, but it simply whites out the report.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

I had to create a separate Crystal Report for this because of the exact same
issue.

I'm wondering if anybody knows if there's a setting or a way to remove the schema from an invoice when it's printed to a text file for edi purposes. Every invoice that prints out has the schema at the beginning of the file and our EDI provider wants to know if it can be removed prior to us sending the text file to them. I looked in report data def, report style and I didn't see anything.
No way from Vantage to do it that I know of. I use a program called AWK. It is
a programming language which processes text files. With AWK you could easily
strip off the schema from the file after it has been created.

Would EDIARFrm (ARForm for EDI Outbound Documents ) work for you? It would be
a flat file instead of an XML file.

I just tried that report data def but when printed, it still has the schema. you're right, it is a flat file but still includes the schema.. thanks for the suggestion.

Are we only able to copy and customize the Report Data Definitions that are included with the software? I've been able to do this and get the results in a new Crystal report. But if I create a new RDD from scratch and assign it to a new Report Style, how do I launch it getting it to create the new .xml file?

I've used the BAQ Report Designer for flat table reports, but I need to get more complex information. I haven't tried the Dashboard Reports yet. We're currently using ODBC in V5 and have a ton of reports to redevelop.

You can't create new RDD's and use them without the SDK.

For new reports you would use BAQs, same for dashboards. In E9 "most" reports/dashboards can be accomplished with BAQs. While it is a single table result it can be the result of some pretty involved joins.

You can also do a direct progress call from embedded for more elaborate data-sets. With that you would typically also use an embedded call to crystal reports passing the data-set returned from progress to the crystal object.
