Removing scrap from job quantity

Patrick,

The DISCREPANT field is not grayed out in Data Collection.

I was told by technical support that we don't need the Quality
Control Module to have the scrap quantity reduce the job quantity.
We should be able to enter the quantities through Labor Entry or Data
Collection and it should take care of itself. This doesn't appear to
be working for us.

We are having trouble trying to determine how you reduce job quantity
by scrap quantity in Vantage 5.0.337.

It was our understanding that if an operator reported scrap quantity
it would reduce the original job quantity by the same amount, but it
doesn't seem to work that way. The subsequent operation still
expects the original job quantity to be reported before it will close
the operation.

We have even tried setting up a Scrap Warehouse and receiving scrap
from a job to this warehouse but it still doesn't account for the
quantity properly. It seems that a warning or reminder should be
generated to tell you to make up the pieces lost but we don't see
anything like that either.

Do we need to purchase the Quality Control Module to account for
this properly?

There is a shop warning "Operation was completed under Quantity".

Ask your account rep for a temporary license codes for the quality module,
then put them in your training copy of the database. Quality Module has now
been around for a couple of releases and has some very fine features for
tracking NonConforming Material and creating DMR's and Corrective Actions.
This module does a lot and may be over kill for what you want.

If you don't have the quality module, is the data collection DISCREPANT
field grayed out?
