Record Search default 8.03 405

Now are there areas that make you glad you upgraded to 40x?

I would be extremely cautious about going to 8.03.4xx. We were able to get to 403D but could not use 404x at all. I am still testing 405 to see how many problems it will cause.

I will second the motion for 403d. We went there from 6.1 and although
8.x is tough to get used to it was quite good. We went to 405 last
weekend and I wish with all my heart that we had stayed at 403d.

Thanks.

Bug in Order entry, when you select a customer part number it returns
the first Cust Part Num per that Cust, that part. If you have more than
one it ignores the rest. (Epicor does have a patch for that, and I
think they moved the fix to be released with 405a.
Funky customization behavior. It will be running a customization and
then suddenly ignore the custom code like it does not exist.
Various small changes to shipping that seem to require more clicking to
do the same function.
Generally more frustrations from the office users.
I don't know if I can blame 405 or not, but scheduling seems to be even
more difficult that it was with our planner about pulling his hair out
because things seem to schedule differently that they did even in 403d,
which in itself was a drastic change from 6.1. Just found out this was
a change in the Company Config that "may" have been changed by the upgrade.
We are using it live, but we needed the patch from Epicor to enter
orders. I will be looking for and testing the 405a patch as soon as it
becomes available as well as watching for the next patch after that.
I am going to go back to my Vantage rule book and highlight the "Don't
upgrade to a version unless there are at least a couple of patches out
for it" rule again. Frankly there was less complaining from the users
when we made the jump from 6.1 to 8.03.403d than to 405.

What problems have you all had that makes you wish you had stayed with a previous version?

On the positive side, a few bugs have been fixed.

1. Backflushing now works for parts in a Phantom assembly.

2. Project Costs Analysis works for Labor costs.

We also noticed a few other issues in 405:

1. We can not re-open a quote to make changes.

2. If we duplicate a PO, then the new PO prints "CHANGE ORDER".

With regard to the re-opening of the quote to make changes, we had the
same issue when we migrated from 6.1 to 8.03.404B.

T/S told me that it is a known issue, to be fixed in 406.

A workaround to fix this is to uncheck Prevent Changes in Company

The Quote issue has a fix that Support will give you. It's a check box
in the company config. That is one of the bigger reasons I don't like
405, they changed the company config without my knowledge or approval.
There is also a check box in Scheduling that needs to be reset to
schedule started operations. We had it set in the past and they changed
the setting in this upgrade.
Also, if you have not seen my note, watch for Customer Part Numbers.
It's broken for multiple customer part numbers for one part number.

speed, speed and speed. The # of clicks and the weird errors that cause hours of frustration. example:  Recently, after posting payroll, while actually printing the checks, an error popped up "handle is invalid". No error #, nothing, just a box with this error. The printer didn't stop printing checks... one after the other, appearently in an endless loop. So, we cleared the print job from the buffer, shutdown vantage, deleted the post and started all over. 5 minutes into it, the printer just kicked off and printed checks from our first check #, again in an endless loop. Eventually we got it to work without an error and got our payroll, 3 1/2 hours later, something that shouldn't take more than 15-20 min.

What problems have you all had that makes you wish you had stayed with a previous version?

Hello,

Is there a way to change the default of the amount of records selected
in a search?

It is currently set at max 100 if you change it in the options field it
defaults back to 100.

Thank You

I am not aware of any way to change the default, i.e. you must change it each time before searching. If someone else had found a way to change the default I would love to know.

Don:

Did you mean 1000 records, not 100?

I don't know of any way to change it, but I am on 8.03.404, and my
default max is 1000 records.

Good afternoon,

The mfgsys file has a line for <DefaultSearchPageSize value= "100">

We are putting ours back to 1000 like it was before 405.

Have a great day!

Which version are you on? I find in our current version, there seems to be with some applications many clicks and users complain.
