Andy,
I did the same exact thing back in 97 with our conversion and Fiscal Year
End.
At the end of the day June 30 run a wip report off the old system.
Post a single labor cost adjustment to say the first operation for labor and
material cost.
Mark all completed operations complete.
Run Job Travelers and put them on all your jobs.
You should be good to go at this point. COGS and WIP should be close.
You can create cost reports with report builder to monitor and verify.
Shortcuts & Notes:
Date all adjustments 06/30/2001 so you can exclude them if need be from
reports in the future.
You need to focus first on the jobs running on Work Centers for Monday July
2nd, other wip adjustments can be made a few days earlier or later even
though you date them 06/30. This should help prioritize what could seem like
a huge project. Also will help cut down the weekend conversion work.
If possible lock out your old system an prevent users from entering data if
you are not running parallel. We did not run parallel and did have a lot of
reports to come up with as we went through our first weekend, monthend,
quarter, etc... Your better off pushing people into the new system, carry
the wounded and shoot the stragglers. If there wounded at least the tried.
Stragglers should be shot.
Good Luck

Subject: [Vantage] Re. Vantage Can anyone advise on WIP on "Go Live"
Isocrylic is a small Plastics Fabrication Company in the UK.
We employ about 35 people.
Our "Go Live " date is 2nd July 2001
Can anyone advise on how to organise WIP allocations to jobs part completed
(dynamic data)on our "Go Live" date? or say how they managed their own WIP
that carried into Vantage.
Our "Go Live" coincides with the Company End of Year to help make things a
little easier.
