This was one of the reasons that we started with a clean data base in
our conversion to 8.0 on 1/1/08. We were then able to create 3 digit vs
2 digit department numbers to be incorporated into the chart of accounts
layout, as well as, cleaning up all of our master files in which we only
brought over active data.
We purchased the run time version of Pervasive and then had to purchase
templates (excel) from Epicor that have the proper layout of data. We
then exported our info out of 6.1 to excel templates, we cleaned out any
data we did not want to bring forward, like inactive part numbers,
suppliers, customers, etc. and then imported the info into 8.03.
It was not an easy process but when we got through it, it made for a
nice and clean database. We also brought a version of 6.1 forward
through normal conversion which we call Historical and removed all
rights to do anything but view trackers to make historical data
available to users.
