Actually that wasn't the issue here. Apparently this particular problem can happen on Win95 and Win98. Appears there is another driver file or something that conflicts with the "hatten.ttf" file if it exists. You have to rename the "hatten.ttf", redo the install, and then change the file back. Wierd, eh? But it's right on Microsofts Knowledge base. Go figure.

thats where I was headed Mike... if the OS were anything other than XP my
previous post would apply. Being XP... Troy, your authentication key needs
the activation code from MS. Either by placing a phone call to MS or via web
activation.

Had Office previously been installed on this machine (what OS is it?)
MS has a utility called "Office 97 File and Registry Eraser Utility"...
Q) I'm receiving the error message "Microsoft Access can't start because
there is no license for it on this machine." I've tried re-installing but
it doesn't solve the problem. How can I fix this?
(A) Most of the times, this error message comes up when Access did not
register properly during the install process.
As a part of the setup, the following entries are created in the
registry.
(For Access 97):
\\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Licenses\8CC49940-3146-11CF-97A1-00AA00424A9F
If the entries are not present or are corrupted, this error message will
come up.
To fix the problem, re-run the setup with a /y switch.
Setup /y
Under Windows 98, this problem can come up due to the installation of
Microsoft Publisher 97. For details, check out the knowledge base article
and download the tool.

Anyone seen this error after installing Office 97 Professional and first
starting Access?
"Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this
machine."
We are using the Same CD and license number that we always do for our
corporate license agreement. It's happened on two different PC's now for
the same user.
Any ideas what's going on?
