Hi everyone!

I have a RB report that I'm just having a confusing time with. It shows
the sales for all open jobs. It also shows if we invoiced part of the job
and if we received any payment for the job yet. My sales orders and
invoices just are not pulling in correctly. Is anyone game to look at it
and show me the error of my ways?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if this can be done in Report Builder, I would imagine it would
create lots of duplicate records. If anyone has found a way to do something
like this in report builder, please post it, because I would love to see
that.

I have created a report something like this in Microsoft access using ODBC
and sub reports. It could also be done in crystal using ODBC, but I have
not done that one.

Tom, I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but check out the
current "canned" Vantage Job Traveler report written in Crystal reports. It
has the job broken down in the tree-like fashion you desire, but it lists
the job materials before the job operations instead.

Interesting.... I have done similar with other records but not these. If I
had to approach this it would be with something like an artificial sort
field created from the job + asm + "type" + Oper or Mtl and then have this
sort inside asm and job groups. Then a couple band lines on the "artificial
key" group footer conditioned to only print one type or ther other. Don't
use O and M for the type or you won't get the opers before the mtls. I
can't vouch that this would all work but it is where I would start.

If you were writing this in Crystal, I believe choosing "Keep Together" in
the options for the group, that would do it. If you did a job traveler
print preview for the specific job before printing this report, it would
update the Job related DBF's on the C drive, which you could report on in a
seperate crystal report, if you aren't using ODBC.

However, those DBF's only contain a limited amount of information, and are
tailored specifically for the job traveler.

An artificial sort formula, as Todd mentioned, seems to be the only way to
do this in RB.

Good Luck,

Thaddeus Jacobs

Don't know if this will help but....

Our last JobOper for JobAsms which use materials is always the OPCode 'FINAL'

I set up 4 groups, JobHead.JobNum, JobAsm.AssemblySeq, JobOper.OprsSeq, and JobMtl.MtlSeq, all set to Print Once.

I then created a Calculated field which is set True for JobOper.OpCode = FINAL.

Deleted the Records band Line and used Group header lines for the 4 Groups. Then set the Band Line Properties for the materials group to print only if the Calculated field is true. Seems to work except you get ?'s if there is a JobAsm with FINAL and no materials.

Didn't do a whole lot of testing but it seems to work.

I have a shipping report for a specific customer grouped by part
number, then order number. Some orders have more than one part, so
the same order number may show up several times on the report. I have
created a VB form in the ShipDtl table for tracking number and ship
cost. However one order with several items may only have one tracking
number and ship cost. The tracking number and cost are entered in the
VB form only once in the first line item. Since the report is grouped
by part number some of the parts do not show tracking info, because
it is only on the first line, the customer wants to see the tracking
number repeat for each line item for that order. Rather than enter
the same tracking info into each line I would like the report to do
the work, but I haven't had any luck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Helen
This would be simple to do if you had the VBForms info in the ShipHead
VBForm instead of the ShipDtl VB Form field. Is it possible for you to
switch this going forward?
It would be simple if every shipment had only one tracking number,
and ship cost but sometimes each line item has its own tracking
number, and ship cost so the info is for each line. I suppose
depending on the situation the data could be entered in a differnet
place each time, but that could be confusing to the people entering
the data.
If I understand what your saying, try joining to ShipDtl again with
alias ShipDtl2. Create a calculated field Line1 with value 1. The
Join:

ShipDtl.company to ShipDtl2.company
ShipDtl.packnum to ShipDtl2.packnum
Line1 to ShipDtl2.packline

Place the tracking number and cost from ShipDtl2 on each line you
want it to appear.
