Rb Join for Memo fields

Yes I could, I would like to see that as the key1 field is character and
the quotenum is numeric.

If you could send me a copy I would appreciate it.

I have written a report from the quotes in crystal and had no problem
linking the Memo table to the quotehed table. The only fields I linked
were company and key1 to Quotenum.

Can you use crystal for this report?

Subject: [Vantage] Rb Join for Memo fields

I know this has been asked but my research in the archives does not
provide an answer that I have gotten to work. I need to join (left
outer) the Quote Header table to the Memo table. The fields I need to
use to take advantage of the indexes in the Memo table are Quote
Company, RelatedToFile, Key1 . The Quotehdr table does have the Company
field but RelatedToFile is not available and the Key1 field is the
string equivalent of the Quotenum field. Problem with that is the Key1
field in the Memo table is a character field and Quotenum is a numeric
value. I have experimented with vb fields and re-typed the RelatedToFile
value and a string value for the quote number and can make the join work
like that. Question is how can I do it just using the raw data and some
Rb trickery?

Thanks

Keith

Things I would try....
Step 1: Dump the raw memo table to an RB report and sort on "RelatedToFile". Look to see if it was spelled differently than the table name. Some are. Maybe filter on RelatedToFile Begins "Q" to make the list smaller if the Memo table is large.

Step 2: Sometimes when fields are not compatible you must join only on what you can (sometimes only Company) and filter on the rest. Inefficient but it can be made to work.
