RB - How to add Onhand and Alloc Qty to BOM report?

A while back I wrote a Crystal report to track inventory transactions, but
because of the mentioned problems, I finally gave up trying to get it to
work and used it to export to excel where I fixed it manually. (Yikes)
Actually, for a report that is run only once a month that was not that bad,
especially since when it was done it still looked OK.
However, now I would just write a few separate sub reports to do the task.
This is what I would do:

For Onhand Qty:
4Group by PartTran.TranType
3Group by PartBin.BinNum <-Display only this summary
2Group by Part.Partnum

For Allocated:
Create a subreport just to pull in this field for the PartWhse

Darren,
Yep, you're right about the problem cropping up with Multiple Warehouses.
And that's what we plan to do in the near future as we begin using the Cell
Mfg. Process. Each cell will have it's own Warehouse, so to speak. Yikes.

Troy,
I read that also regarding the 5.1 update but it seems to me that if you
have multiple warehouses you are still in the same boat!! Why don't they
create fields in the part table itself and update them with the totals.

Thanks for the reply. It's nice to see someone else shares my pain.

Darren,
This problem has haunted me on dozens of reports where I needed the
OnHandQty from multiple bin locations for the same part. (We only have one
warehouse currently, so the AllocQty hasn't been an issue.) Up until now
I
have had to resort to Using Crystal Reports and looking up the Sum of
OnHandQty from a subreport (placed where the OnHandQty in the main report
would be).

I recently discovered that in Vantage 5.1, there is a NEW field in the
PartWhse Table for OnHandQty that is an aggregate of all bins for that
part
in that Warehouse. So in 5.1 you can simply plunk the new field on your
report instead of the PartBin.OnhandQty. What a concept! (I'm don't know
if they did this with the AllocQty as well or not).

But for now you may need to look at replicating the BOM report in Crystal
or
something and use subreport. Hopefully there is a better way somewhere.

Happy Pre-Turkey Day,

Can anyone explain how to add these values using both the PartWhs
(allocated) and PartBin (Onhand)? I have multiple bins and warehouses
for
each and need to sum them but having a bit of trouble figuring out the
links
and groups. I am using the BOM report found in the files section if
anyone
would like to help me. Ideally, I would like to show these qty's for
each
of the parts found in the BOM for a given part.

Have a happy holiday.

Thanks,
