Just spent a moment to play with Quick Access panels. I’m thinking this might have some value. For example having it open in Sales order for a user to be able to look at various information/KPIs, open and drill into. Even for our purchasing department.
Ideally I’d like have it open when you open the form based on a personalization (save layouts) or at worst a hotkey. Unfortunately it doesn’t stick in Save Layouts and there is not out of the box hot key reference, 10.2.400.5 (I’m sure I could code it).
Just wondering what others thoughts and mileage has been with this functionality.
I also see the value of this feature and have set up my first, as you said in Order Entry.
I created a BAQ, trying to duplicate what the limited help describes, just a simple BAQ to show the Latest 10 Orders for the customer. BAQ and EDD Dashboard item created sucessfully, but is not working how they describe, or how I think it should work.
I am expecting that when I open a Sales Order for CustID# 2517, the EDD item will display the last 10 Orders for that customer ID, but I am not sure how it passes the information to it.
When no Sales Order is entered the chart (which is just a grid list) displays all the last 10 Orders in the system regardless of Customer ID, but when I enter a new or Existing Order, it goes blank.
I tried adding the Customer ID to the Filter, but same.
It isn’t obvious and sadly I just found that is is not referenced in the general help for the panel, but you can set it up to always option using the options menu for a form. When you have a form open go to tools + options on the menu and check the Enable Quick access panel checkbox in the lower right. That will cause it to start on.
