I have a question on how people might be handling a situation we are
trying to solve. We manufacture Lifts (Cherry Pickers) which are Made
To Order (terminology may not be Vantage Speak yet, still trying to
transfer from our old terminology :) ) Most of the time these units are
Made To Order for specific Customers, and ship to those customers.
Sometimes though, we may have to send the Unit to an intermediate place
to let someone mount it onto a Truck Chassis. Does anyone have any
thoughts as to the best way to handle this? I thought about sending it
through a Sub-Contract operation, or moving it into a different
warehouse while it was at the other place, but was not sure how well
either method would work. We want to be able to track units that are out
being worked on also is one goal. Any thoughts?
