Question - How to use a BAQ to identify records with blank field

Thank you everyone for your help! I was forgetting the outerjoin when I created the BAQ before.

It works great now.

Once again, thanks for everyones help.

Jason
We are in the process of creating a new database with clean information as we are now one company where as we were several operating together in the past.

We have reports created in Crystal which are run every morning for different purposes - To identify Parts with out MOMS , Parts without Customer Part Numbers etc.

These are currently run through ODBC and we are working to convert them to BAQS to attach them to an overnight schedule.

Does anyone know of a way to filter a BAQ looking for blank fields?

Example - All parts that do not have a corresponding Customer Part Number in our CustXPart Table

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :-)
Hi LakeIT,

You could use the criteria to filter out those fields with blank fields. Hope it can help you

Best Regards
Adrian

Really? How do you do it? I tried and couldn't come up with a query.

You can't leave the criteria field blank, you can't use '' and you can't use ?.

On trick is to compare it to another field that you know will always be blank.

I tried comparing it to character10 in the same table which I know is blank and then I didnt get anything.

It should just be

FieldName(XPartNum) = (IsConst not checked) ToDataTableID(CustXPart)ToFieldName(Character10)

Correct?

When I used Part.Character10, it worked. Try that. It might be getting confused by comparing fields from the same table. I also used CustXPart.PartNum to compare it to, but it should work no matter what field you use in the CustXPart table. Just remember to check the outer join in Phrase Builder/ Table Relations.
