I have a query which is returning cross company customer information. I have the query set up to be sorted first by Company and then by CustID. However, when I run this query whether from BAQ designer or from the dashboard which uses it, the output of the query is sorted by Company and then by CustNum. If I remove my sort order the output is still sorted in the same way. Maybe I am missing something obvious, but I am very stumped as to why the query would sort in a way contrary to the sort order that I have set up. Any thoughts?
Hello Fireball,
Make sure your sort order is on the Top Level Query and not on a Inner Sub-Query (by mistake).
LOL Haso, that was going to be my suggestion as I’ve fallen victim to it myself plenty of times.
The second is make sure you don’t have a OrderBy override such as OPTION RECOMPILE inside your Execution Settings.
You can check by going to Actions → Execution Settings
If you need both, you will need to use an Advanced Group By Clause.
It said Haso was in a meeting so I came here instead but he just wanted to get a green solution checkmark added to his tally he was just pretending to be busy.
If I answer on MS Teams I don’t get my solutions count up. I prefer Forums, perhaps one day I will beat @josecgomez
I’m still gunning for most genuine likes (hearts) given. Still lagging Mark.
Here’s one you can like.
Only because I’ve been on here longer, I imagine. Over the last year, NOBODY is as appreciative as you. And you have the award to prove it!
Thank you for the support John
It’s hanging proudly in my cubicle right now!
I wish I could say the same…
