Published Dashboard

Hello,

If I publish a dashboard and add it to the main menu, but then update the dashboard, do I need to republish it? I’m asking because if I update a BAQ after I’ve created a dashboard, I need to redo my dashboard in order for the BAQ updates to appear (unless I’m missing a step on that one).

I would say, yes.

You can make changes all day long in App Studio, but they won’t take effect until you publish.

On the BAQ side…

If you just change a calculated field equation, for example, you should just be able to save the updated BAQ and refresh the dashboard and it should pick up the change since the dashboard references the BAQ each time it loads.

If you change/add columns to the BAQ, however, you’ll need to update your Dashboard to add those columns to the grid-view…then, yes, save & republish.

So… I think it just depends on the extent of what you’re doing.

Thank you!

Yea, when I add columns to BAQs is when I have to delete the BAQ link and readd it. Thankfully that doesn’t happen too often.

When you add columns to the BAQ you shouldn’t need to delete the BAQ on the dashboard. Just update the properties of the grid view and show the new columns.

It is also possible to leaved the query link and swap out the BAQ with another by editing the properties of the BAQ link. When you do this. Save the Dashboard, clear the dashboard processing screen and reload the dashboard - it will pull in the newly updated BAQ.
