Properly removing progress

Rick,

That's the problem, I am installing progress on the new
server. Problem is that since progress is already installed on the
client under 5.2, it doesn't overwrite it. So in order for me to run 6.1
from the new server, the client requires me to keep the old drive
mapped.

Why not just put Progress on the new server also.

We are currently on version 5.2 going to version 6.1. I am installing
6.1 on a separate sever from what 5.2 is running. This is causing me a
problem with progress. When I installed 5.2 I used the mapped drive
letter X. With 6.1 I'm using the drive letter Z so that I can run both
versions at the same time for a smoother migration. When I install 6.1
it uses the registry settings from 5.2 since they both use 9.1D. problem
with this is that I'll be removing 5.2 and the X: drive. When I remove
the X drive, Vantage doesn't start. Vantage support gave me a list of
items to remove from the registry for Progress removal but they expect
me to do this for each client (not gonna happen).

Now I'm sure I'm not the first to upgrade to 6.1 on a new server so how
did everyone else resolve this issue?

When we upgraded I side stepped this issue by keeping two drive letters. V for the old Epic52 folder and Progress and M for Epicor and the mfgsys6x folders. Means each client has to map two drives but it has not been any real problem.

Hi Nick,

Or if you really need to remove the settings on all machines,
you can always create a .reg file which you can double click on or include
in a logon script to silently apply whatever registry settings you need.
