Bill -
Please contact me off list if you still need the documents to set up
security for V8 so that I can forward them directly to you.
Contrary to comments on this thread, security can be setup on the database,
tables & fields so as to not conflict with the Vantage or Vista UI.

Subject: [Vantage] Re: Progress Table Permissions
I was looking for the same and just received what Epicor calls their
"Setting up ODBC for V800 (Progress Database)" KIT (file
v803odbcKit.rtf). This was not a KIT, just a document that describes
the basic ODBC setup and configuration. It did reference a SQL script
that was suppose to be in the KIT to make it easy to set the table
permissions for a user but it was not included and Epicor support says
that the instructions are in error - there isn't any script available.
By default, the mfgsys databases have permissions set for the
"sysprogress" user - wide open permissions. I would not want my
report writers to have wide open permissions to the databases through
ODBC. Setting up another user with reduced permissions is an absolute
must - READ only and no access to sensitive tables - payroll, etc..
Anyone have a script for the Vantage 8 schema? Without, it makes
setting permissions on the hundreds of tables very time consumming.
Thanks,
Bill
