I am noticing that the Part On Hand Quantity in the Production Planner Workbench is not correct by plant. Below is a screenshot and It looks like Epicor is adding the 23,858 on plants 2 to 4 is the sum of the inventory of the 4 plants. The inventory for plant 1 does not make sense…
Yes, I ran those 2 processes and then the “Production Planning Process” to populate the “Production Planner WB” but it stills adds up the inventory. So I believe that because of that none of the jobs show shortages when I know some do as confirmed with the “Time Phased Inquiry” screen and the “Time Phased Mtl. Requirements” report.
We did some extensive testing of the 9.05.702 production planner, in a multi-plant environment. What we found was you had to be very careful with your cutoff dates. It didn’t do soft pegging, it took the demand - supply between the dates and showed short if the final balance < 0. Parts could go short between those dates, but as long as a supply job was out there, no shortage. You can ignore pending PO receipts, but you can’t ignore pending manufactured jobs. We ended up not using it.
Epicor added an order shortage tracker at some point in 10 - I haven’t played with that one yet to see if it works any different.
Don’t forget there is a multi-pegging process and a time phase report (report was very slow in 9.05, don’t know if it’s better now with the move to SSRS).
