We are at an impasse with how to handle the following situation:
Job 123 uses part XYZ as part of the assembly being created on Job 123. Part XYZ is serialized and has been ordered against Job 123 and was found to have a defect. We worked with the vendor and they are going to repair the serialized part XYZ for us.
Here’s the issue:
How do we track the part as it is in the vendor’s possession to be repaired. We are cutting a PO to the vendor to repair the item (it is at a cost to us as the part is not warranted). We need to send the serialized part to the vendor to have it fixed, then re-receive the part (same Serial Number) back into our system to be used on job 123.
