Try using the explorer tool to stop the database you're trying to
restore, then issue the command to restore the database.

Subject: [Vantage] Problem setting up Vantage as stand-alone on notebook
I am setting up Vantage to run on a notebook so that I can do a dump
and load on it in the near future.
We are on Vantage 5.00.329, progress 9.1a26. This is what I have
loaded on the notebook. I used some special instructions for
notebook installations. Everything looked good, I was able to
double click the Vantage icon and Vantage opened to the screen to
enter codes. I closed that screen without entering anything. Then
I copied the backup.1 file from the network which was last nights
backup of the live database. I used the instructions to try to
restore it.
DOS Command:
c:\epic50\vantage\db>c:\epic50\progress\bin\prorest vantage
c:\temp\backup.1
Error:
**The database vantage is in use in multi-user mode. <276>
And then it tells me that the restore utility failed.
I would think that it is either because the backup.1 file is from a
multi-user db, or it has something to do with ProControl, Progress
Explorer Tool or Services. I question which of these I should be
using.
Thanks for any help!
