Subject: [Vantage] Problem in Scheduling

Â
Dear Friends;

I am using Vantage 8.03.408B and from a long time I am facing a problem in Scheduling. Ours is a steel fabrication company and we manufacture electrical panels. We don't manufacture items to stock. We manufacture products against orders only.

We are facing a major problem in scheduling our jobs. We find that the load and the capacity does not match. On some days there may be sufficient capacity that would be available yet the job gets shifted to the previous day thereby exceeding the manufacturing time.Â

We also noticed that the load is not distributed evenly between the various resources in a resource group. For example we have a resource group of Assembly operators which contain 30 resources. We use the scheduling block also as 30. So the load should be distributed in a manner as below

(Production Qty x Operation time) / Scheduling Block. This calculation is coming correctly. For example We have  production qty of 40 pieces and operation time of 18 hours/piece and scheduling block of 30 then the total time that would be taken is (40 x 18) / 30 = 24 hours. The load on each resource (i.e. 30 resources) will be 48 minutes.Â

A 10 hours calendar is assigned to each resource so we have a capacity of 300 hours. What happens is that the load of 24 hours gets distributed on to 2 days. We are not able to understand yet what the reason could be.

I would like to know any body in this group had been facing a similar problem. I would also like to know any body else had been facing other related problems in Scheduling and the load and capacity management.
