I have seen this time and time again, why when we click Client Printer does the dialog take an insane amount of time to generate.
How many printers are defined on the workstation and if network printers are they offline?
I’ve seen this as well on a few workstations. Curious, does it also take a
long time to open Window’s Devices and Printers?
Thanks,

Are the printer drivers exposing the parameters the Epicor printer enumerator is looking for……
We had to change drivers for some printers in 10.1 when Epicor decided to use their own code……
It does no, only Epicor
Are any of the printers installed outside of the local network you are on? I have encountered a couple workstations that had added remote site printers on a WAN that was slow and the enumeration seems to take a long time. I guess if a guy wanted to take the guess work out of this you could create a very small C# app to debug the enumeration using the same .Net methods that Epicor utilizes.
There are sever shared printers but all local (LAN)
I should have asked this but once you retrieve the printers is it fast on subsequent attempts? Just curious if something with the cache mechanism is causing this.
Epicweb has an Answerbook (18278MPS) that offers a possible solution. The official response is this is not directly related to an Epicor problem. However, they offer an article and steps to edit the Registry to possibly resolve it.
Hope this helps!
Jeff
Thanks Jeff! I’ll check it out
What version of ERP are you running? There was some major work done in 10.1.400.23+/10.1.500.8+ in this area.
We are experience this for the last couple of days. Were you able to find a resolution?
Necro on this one, did you ever figure this out, I swear it has to be something in the way the printers are installed on windows, but I’m struggling with a case of this right now.
Seems to be a driver related issue that’s crashing the print spooler maybe? I see that starting the print spooler and instantly trying to print results in this hanging. Thanks everyone.
