Printing A/P checks with Windows XP

No, we don't use the p/r module. Thanks for the idea, but that didn't work.
I even tried logging in as me - I have Security Manager privilege and it
still didn't work. ;(

do you use the payroll module? I see this happen on my workstation
all the time. If I log out of vatange and then go back in the checks
will print. I noticed this happens mostly after I print payroll but
I have seen it happen other times too. I don't know what is causing
it though, the only fix I have is to log back in.

Tricia,

What other software programs are install on the XP Box, I saw this with Best
Software's Abra and Fixed Assets. The both use crystal, dump in dlls and
screw up Vantage. I resolved this by not installing Best Software on the PC
which prints checks. It does a remote connection to anther PC for Fixed
Assets access. Add remove programs did work in proving this out. Removed
Fixed Assets and checks print, installed fixed assets and checks were blank,
uninstalled and they worked again.

Randy,

Not sure what settings you are suggesting. It's just an old dot-matrix
printer. She has the appropriate permissions for Vantage to print checks.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks for the idea, but her machine is as vanilla as it gets. Cindy ...
let's just say...doesn't do a lot on the computer! :) Her typewriter is her

Way out on a limb but...
1. Try re-installing the printer on that PC (as a new printer with different name) but use the most basic driver possible.
2. Not sure if it comes standard or is from Support but there is a ForceReg.bat routine that forces a bunch of OCX registry settings - if my fuzzy memory serves I had to run this for a few users after migrating to 6.0 (non-XP users though) who had Crystal form issues (Packing Slips). You may have it already in the mfgsys60 folder.

On the station, go to the Start Menu and select "Printers and Faxes". Right
click on the printer in question and click on "Sharing". Once there, click
on the "Security" tab and then click on the "Advanced" button. Click on the
"Permissions" tab and then highlight the user in question and select the
"Edit" button. Make sure the user has permissions for "This Printer and
Documents" and the "Print" and "Manage Printer" buttons are checked.
The same thing happened to me about 6 months ago and I believe this is what
I had to do to get the printer to print checks. We're on 5.2 but it had
nothing to do with Vantage.
