Sounds like your database (or network) is running mighty slow in general. 45 to 50 seconds to launch Vantage is a LOONNGG time. No wonder a Print Preview takes a long time also, there are lots of records to recover many times. I would look into network issues.
Or you can try intalling a Vantage Client right on your server. To do this, map the network driver on the server just like you do for a regular workstation. Then run VantageClientSetup.exe like you would for a workstation. But BE SURE TO UNCHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS "INSTALL PROGRESS SOFTWARE". Progress is already installed on your server. You are basically just setting up the Vantage icons and entering a line in your Services file for Vantage.
After installing a Vantage Client on your server, run Vantage from the server and see if the login and print preview still takes a long time. If it does, then it is not a network issue and you have a couple options.
1. Fine tune your database parameters. Wayne Cox can give you some good pointers here, or you can call Epicor and they can help you too.
2. Buy a faster server.
I would say Option 1 is the better option.

Subject: [Vantage] Re: Print preview problem
Hi Terry, Thank you very much for response,
It takes almost a 45-50 seconds to launch Vantage at first on all my
computers, and when we select the print preview for any form from
vantage it takes almost a minute to bring the preview.
Yes i have Norton antivirus installed on the network but i already
exclude network and that drive from real time protection and select
that scan on create.Earlier vantage was taking more than a minute but
after i read from yahoo group that if we exclude vantage drive, the
issue will be resolved and of course it takes less time than that but
for forms it is same.
