After you send the first confirming PO or Sales Order Acknowledgment try
creating follow-up material release (EDI830's or 862's) or Sales Order
Reacknowlegements by creating them with report builder and just showing
releases, no misc charges. That's what we have gone to.
By the way version 5 crystal forms doesn't add closed releases, closed
lines, void releases, also doesn't pass the necessary fields for PO release
line unit of measure. Such as I manufacture pieces and heat treat the parts
by the pound. What good is a purchasing unit of measure if I can't display
it on a PO release.

hmmm.... I might have a few ideas.
1 - Vantage shows closed orders
I think perhaps Closed Releases are the issue? (not entire closed orders,
e.g. old Orders are sometimes re-printed). Unfortunately with the standard
PO form you don't get the option of filtering out closed releases using the
PORel.OpenRelease field (at least not in 4, if you have 5, check this).
Therefore we use a "Suppress Printing" tick box on our PO Release VB Form -
after the Order is printed, this is ticked. This prevents old releases
being printed on the PO.
2 - Vantage doesn't show Partial Shipments to Release Requirements
I'm not entirely sure about this one, but are you talking about a Call-Off
Order (where you order in a certain amount to stock at your supplier, and
call it off when needed?).
We do this with POs. Again we use VB Forms, this time the PO Header VB Form
has a "Call-Off" tick box. We then enter a PO Line for each part, and one
release for each for the quantity to reserve at the Supplier for that part.
This first release is ordered, then ticked "Available Qty" on the Release VB
Form - i.e. this is the Qty left at the Supplier. Whenever we add a new
Release, we reduce the Available Qty release by that amount.
This probably doesn't directly answer your question about Partial
Shipments - however if you were using a similar method, you could "Suppress
Printing" on the release once ordered, then that Release wouldn't show on
the PO in future.
However, the situation needs monitoring internally, perhaps reducing one
Release amount by the delivery shortfall, and creating a new Release for the
outstanding?
3 - Vantage considers closed Quantities as part of the overall PO Qty
Yes, it will add them up.. where is this a problem?
Hope that is some help.

Subject: PO's & Blanket releases
We would like to use purchase orders as a means of providing our
suppliers with our shipping release requirements. These requirements
change every week. Three problems:
Vantage shows closed (received) orders on the purchase order so if we
resubmit the changes to the supplier, they see the closed
requirements.
Vantage doesn't show partial shipments applied to release
requirements so it will look to the supplier as if they have shipped
nothing against that requirement even if they have.
Vantage considers closed quantities as part of the overall PO
quantity.
Is there anyone out there using the PO form for their dynamic release
requirements and if so, how are you handling this?
