POForm exports

One thing that I've done that doesnt seem too big a hit on performance, is
single field subreports using odbc. I've found that I can work them similar
to regular crystal fields and if you make your links specific enough users
don't seem to notice the slight performance hit.

The external name has to start with UD (see notes in VB Forms help for
this
field). Also, it would have to be on one of the tables already in the the
report unless you try to do it with ODBC to link to a regular table (not
.dbf file). So you would probably use a VB form on one of the "given"
tables. This has been a huge frustration for me.

When clued in I did enter the name (are there any conventions I need to be
aware of?) and deleted everying in the working directory and then reran
the
preview and then verified the DB, but...I still don't see the fields.
Where
should they show? I don't even seem to have a vendor table to work with.

populate the .dbf file and in Crystal Developer verify the database to get
it to show in available fields. Seems to me I usually forget some steps
like this when adding a UD field and it has confused me for a bit.

VB) is a field called EXTERNAL NAME. Put a name in that field and it should

If I am not mistaken, the VBForm fields from the Vendor table are not
exported for a purchase order print. Only the VBForm fields from the
purchase order related VBForm tables are (of which you did perform the
proper procedure to get them to show up anyway).

About the only thing you can do prior to implementing 5.2 with it's VBForm
mapping, is to create a field in one of the purchase order VBForms identical
to the one in the vendor VBForm. Then when the person enters the purchase
order VBForm field you could have one of two things happen:

1) The user manually updates the field.
2) Using some progress code the field gets updated automatically either
upon entry into the VBForm or by pushing a button.

Not sure what other ideas are out there, but that is what we have done in
the past.

The external name has to start with UD (see notes in VB Forms help for this
field). Also, it would have to be on one of the tables already in the the
report unless you try to do it with ODBC to link to a regular table (not
.dbf file). So you would probably use a VB form on one of the "given"
tables. This has been a huge frustration for me.

aware of?) and deleted everying in the working directory and then reran the
preview and then verified the DB, but...I still don't see the fields. Where
should they show? I don't even seem to have a vendor table to work with.

populate the .dbf file and in Crystal Developer verify the database to get

VB) is a field called EXTERNAL NAME. Put a name in that field and it should
start showing up in your crystal reports.

Is there anyone else out there this morning that is unfortunate enough to
have started their day and might have a clue if it is possible to attach
extended Vendor information on a PO form short of using ODBC.
Specifically
I am looking for the character fields from the vendor table. I am trying

start using these Vantage Basic Forms but I can't seem to get the
information where I want it short of RB or ODBC and I am trying to avoid
that road.
Incidentally we are on 5.0 if that matters.

Skip that UD naming bit. I was confusing something else. As a convention I
use VB in the external name so I know where it came from. UD is something
else. Sorry.
