I have done some further research and I had to dig into attachments.
Someone from Epicor could correct me, but EpicWeb does not have this on the page.
Below was buried in release documentation.
They are currently working on a multi-year phased post-2024.1 sunset plan.
Much has been discussed about how Kinetic works and does not work.
At a certain point - Epicor will be forcing Cloud customers to adopt the new user interface.
This thread is about that direction. The more we know the more we can plan for working with the software we are given.
In the release Guide for 2022.2 - there’s a couple pages
=========
General
Browser-Based User Experience
If you are currently using Classic UX screens, this is important information regarding the transition to the new UX.
With the 2022.2 release, we continue refining and improving the UX based on customer-driven feedback.
These are the UX enhancements and new features included with 2022.2:
Improved Save and Reload. We now better preserve selected record position as you update and reload data across the UX and we have also improved prompts before saving on exiting screens.
Grid Enhancements
- Grid Personalization: Streamlined Grid Personalization panel with Search, Sorting, and more column information
- Expanded Select: All limits for search and other load-as-you-scroll grids with large data sets
- Improved Summary options: Summaries on groups and more condensed summary UI
Unlimited Data Export. Data export is replaced with a new server-side data export process. All limitations on export size are removed and very large exports may be started and returned when complete similar to a report.
Offline Alerts and Recovery. UX will now catch and recover from the loss of network connectivity as well as warn you when offline.
Kinetic Login. Web login now supports sites with multiple active login types.
Responsive Mobile and Embedded Application Improvements. Improved Hero bar and other component responsive behaviors for small displays and mobile. Also major UX improvements to applications that launch other applications in slide-outs on both mobile and desktop browsers.
Extension of Classic UX Sunset Deadline Beyond 2024.1
In listening to our customers as they transition to the new UX, we have heard and agreed that the pending 2024.1 deadline for removing the Classic UX is too rigid. Just as we did a phased UX transformation, we have decided to take a phased sunset approach to enable a smoother adoption of the new UX. With this revised strategy, the Classic UX and the Smart Client will continue to be available beyond the 2024.1 release for both on-premises and cloud deployments.
We are currently working on a multi-year phased post-2024.1 sunset plan while we continue to enhance the UX and streamline the migration experience. The phase-out plan will be based on customer success metrics to enable a smoother transition to the new UX. More details on the Classic UX sunset plans will be available with the Spring 2023 release. We will communicate any Classic UX sunset plans with 2 releases in advance so you can plan and act on them.
This extension will also give you more time to focus on upgrading to the latest Kinetic release and then taking on your Classic UX customization conversion and UX adoption as a second phase.
The Classic UX sunset extension does not mean that we are putting the brakes on UX transformation. This is the right time to start planning your transition and get familiar with the new UX and Application Studio. If you haven’t started, check out the Kinetic UX Resources Site on EpicWeb. This is our comprehensive portal to UX adoption, where you will find resources to help you with change management for both the technical and people aspects. We recommend the Getting Started with the Kinetic UX Guide and the UX Testing Guides by Persona/Role (under documentation).
