I have apart that shows a demand of 330, On hand of 190, allocated of 0, and the most in all open orders for this part is only 130. Any idea why this part number demand is quite a bit larger? I’ve checked part bin the numbers are slightly different Partbin shows 317 as compared to partwhse is 330. Both have same allocated numbers.
William,
A few things:
- Demand is more than just sales orders. The PartDtl table holds all the Supply and Demand details for parts, do a BAQ on that table with your part and compare the sums for demand type. Review all the field descriptions.
- A known issue is that the PartWhse table tends to not maintain the qty values properly, so there is a program in Epicor called ‘Refresh Part Qtys & Allocations’ which reviews all parts and updates Part Qty’s in various tables. When you open the program to run it, there is a good description on what it will do. To actually update qty’s you want to run it in Report & Update mode. Most of my clients run this no less than a weekly basis. Unfortunately it cannot be scheduled.
- Why does this happen? Who knows, it still happens, Epicor knows it, hence the program… somewhere there is a missing trigger to update the PartWhse and other tables when demand changes.

@Rick_Bird can this be ran during the day, or does it need to be ran after hours? And I did check the PartDtl and saw much more accurate numbers. I was unaware of these issues, but am glad you mentioned them to me. I will keep this up on a weekly basis.
I believe it’s recommended to be ran during low database transaction times.
I would double check with Epicor Support for the official recommendation.

Thanks! our stock parts we obviously keep close track of. Now if we could just automate the job creation once the stock is reaching its minimum. THAT would be heaven! LOL! Thanks again for the info!
Will,
With nightly MRP run’s & the Auto Job Firm & Auto Job Release & Mass Job Printing (or skip that and go paperless) you can do this!
Or if your Methods and costs are stable and well understood you could use the Kanban Monitor to know what needs to be made & qty’s and then Kanban Receipt to auto create, issue material record labor at estimates, receive the inventory to stock and close the job.
Definitely doable and right there are two options for you… a project? yes, can Epicor do it? yes.

@Rick_Bird REALLY?! Ok, NOW I’m VERY interested! LOL! Jut bought me a new project! We have one guy that half his job is looking at stock parts that are nearing minimum or demand is greater than the minimums and creates jobs for needed qty. So, I’ve been looking into how to simply his work load on this and use him in other places. So will be well worth the effort.
