I read on here about using Service connect to transfer parts from one “site” to another “site”? Is this possible?
Senerio - We have a part being built in our Machine shop but demand from the SO is flowing in the Seats plant. Our inventory gets the part from Machine Shop and doesn’t look at where the demand is flowing and places that part in machine shop when the part really needs to go to Seats plant? Any idea’s on an efficient way of resolving this issue?
Service connect is to automate the processes. Can you manually transfer the parts using Transfer Orders and receipt the other end? If you can do it manually, then you should be able to automate it with Service Connect.
In a nutshell, Transfer orders are from Inventory at Site A, to Inventory at Site B.
If you’re talking about transfers within a single site, you can stop reading.
We have a similar issue where we manufacture at Site A, but need to transfer to Site B, as the final shipment will be from Site B. Nothing is done to it, and its not used in anything at Site B. Just that it and the other line items on the order must originate from Site B.
The Item is usually a make to order Finished Good, that can only be produced at plant A.
The Job in plant A must be changed to Make to Stock (which means it must have a part master entry, with Qty Bearing on both plants).
After it’s manufactured, we receive it to inventory in Site A
After it’s in Site A’s Inventory we process a transfer order to Site B.
its a HUGE pain. Especially creating a Part master entry for a part that will only ever be used once.
EDIT: Apologies for switching back and for between ‘plant’ and ‘site’. They mean the same thing.
